It helps to make a list of what needs to be done. Do one thing at a time and mark it off your list. This way the task is not quite so overwhelming, it becomes a group of smaller jobs that are easier to do manage. If it's a lot of clutter, get some boxes to sort it into and then go through the boxes and clean, toss or put away.

I invite someone over. Fear (even fear of ridicule for having a messy house) is a great motivator.

If it makes you feel better Penny, I do too! You should SEE all the dishes and laundry that piled up during the last week. It's my day off, so it's my turn to clean! I'm debating leaving it until tomorrow and going to get a tattoo or something.

just clean every day so you don't have a big mess at the end that you don't want to start cleaning
