  • In the 1970s we had more ambitions for going to college, getting a good job, getting married, living happy lives. Seems fewer kids now care about those things. We were eager to leave home and make own town lives. Now they just stay living with mom and hang out and continue doing the same stuff they did in high school like breaking the mufflers on their cars and playing with mechanical toys. Also they have the internet and texting which we never did so we learned more about interacting with others because we grew up doing it and they don't seem to have as effective social skills. Their models, even for the girls, seem to be urban male street gangs. Which they seem to get off on fighting and disagreement whereas we in the 1970s, especially girls, were taught to get along and make peace and avoid conflicts.
