  • You don't!! He is ten years old and if he is not comfortable with the latest fashion craze among - and I use the term VERY loosely here - adults, then leave him be. Certainly parents have - or OUGHT TO HAVE - far greater things to worry about than whether they can coerce their children into nonsense like this. You know, things like: How are his grades? Does he have friends? Is he healthy and eating well? Is he happy in school? You know, things that matter and that parents are supposed to worry about. The world is suffering much from the absence of practicing adults. It is nice to see that there is a ten year old out there who wants to behave like one, and frightening that there are adults who don't seem to have a clue how to be one. Grow up, tell your husband to get a haircut and act like a parent instead of an adolescent - and let ten year olds be ten year olds.
  • Wait until he is 18 and let him decide for himself. You can't make him get his ears pierced and at 10 he is far too young for it. If he doesn't want his ears pierced he might never change his mind and you will just have to accept it.
