  • Click on the avatar in the question box of one of them and then tell me where/who's profile it went to.

I found one of them and the poster had no name, just the default avatar. When I clicked on that it took me directly to my own profile. That wasn't how the old site used to be. Why can't they set this site so that if a member's account is nuked, we can see it has been nuked like we could on the old site? I still don't understand the infrastructure of this new AB.

Actually you're wrong again, that's exactly the way it worked on the old AB. This was done by an old bot that use to set up questions to be answered by staff researchers. Remember them? Well way back then if you clicked on the bot's avatar you were sent back to your own profile - just exactly like what you just experienced. Sometimes it had no name, and sometimes it was named "Someone". I suspect it has either been hacked and controlled by someone or it has a worm that was brought back from the archives on those ancient questions that "some people" love to answer..

How am I wrong this time, Ice man? I knew a nuked account on the old AB when I saw one. Remember my friend DJ Sami? Her account was nuked for nothing. She was first PB'ed for a nonexistent violation, then when she protested about it after she was released, she was nuked. She was a victim of somebody's pretty, lilly-livered lies, I just know she was. Anyway, once her account was nuked, her display name was replaced by "FormerMember 1576681" and all her activity was erased. Nuked accounts had nothing to do with what I believe you are talking about. I wasn't talking about those "Professional answers". I do remember those and I asked a CL why I couldn't access those profiles. No, Ice man, my comment was not wrong, you simply misunderstood it. The reason why I asked "Why can't they set this site so that if a member's account is nuked, we can see it has been nuked like we could on the old site?" was because I want to see proper evidence that the trolls and troublemakers have been properly removed from the site. The main troublemaker on here still has a lot of his postings intact, although they are slowly disappearing. At least 40 of his questions and maybe a couple of dozen of his answers have gone already, but that is not good enough. I want his profile to be blank like the old nuked accounts and I will not let the matter rest until I see that for myself.

Perhaps you should chill out and re read your own first 3 sentences. In my comment I've already explained how you were wrong. Further more you go on thinking that the account in question was "nuked", wrong again. The account hasn't been "nuked" at all. It was a STAFF ACCOUNT and more than likely a bot (computer generated) and we were not permitted access to it, not back then or now. If you had taken the time to read my comment, you would probably have understood that. I never said anything about "Nuked" accounts. Now what seems to really be the "bee in your bonnet" (besides being told that you are wrong) is this troll's account that you are fixated on. Well guess what ?!? It hasn't been "Nuked" either. The only thing that has happened there, is that his more offensive posts have been erased. You seem to forget that this is not the old AB. The new admin are quite capable of running THEIR site (the new AB) very well and in whatever manner THEY choose. In as much as I'm sure they welcome our input, they are in no way obliged to tolerate, or listen to YOUR demands, or what YOU think isn't good enough.

I think we have our wires crossed, Ice man. You were talking about those staff "bot" accounts while I was mainly talking about nuked accounts. I do remember those staff "bot" accounts and I do know the difference between those and nuked accounts. As for my "demands", this may come as a surprise to you, Ice man, but they are not all about me. I know some people on the old AB thought that but they were wrong. I just want to help to make the site a better place for everybody on it except for trolls, bullies and spammers. It is only when they display the wrong definition of those things that I really get that demanding about it. I know you can hold your own against trolls and I didn't say you can't, but even so I don't see anything wrong with trying to help. Remember that some people cannot hold their own against trolls and they are usually glad of my help. Maybe this new AB won't be quite as bad as the old site for trolls, but it hasn't proved to be completely free of them so far, has it?
    • Ice man
You will never find a Q&A site that is "completely free" of trolls and you know that full well. The admin have given us tools (flags) to report all forms of abuse, so they can look into the problems and take whatever corrective measures they deem necessary. All this & more came to be because of one member who asked the admin for help, in a civil and undemanding manner. To the delight of many of us, the admin were quick to respond. I personally, am very proud of that member because she approached the matter the correct way, and I am also proud that the admin have proven themselves very capable as well. This new AB is shaping up quite nicely and has the potential of becoming a great site. In the meantime what is needed is more members asking more questions, not self appointed & demanding "help". When the time comes that the admin requires the "help" of moderators, they will appoint them as they see fit. Do you not agree that the administrators of the new AB are capable of managing their website ?
    • Bootsiebaby
I have just posted a comment in response to the new guy (Dan) after I saw that he had answered one of my questions. I am giving him the chance to prove that he is capable of managing this website, not putting him down for his efforts. I have asked him politely to install a private message system on here, so maybe we will soon have one. I am trusting Dan to respond positively to that request. I don't know which member you are referring to who asked for help, I don't expect you to tell me and I dare say I will find out for myself in due time, I usually do. As for trolls, I can still try to do something about them if I want to, can't I? I have now joined another well-known Q&A site to hopefully do something about the trolls on there. I don't know why you keep putting me down for being "demanding", Ice man. I know certain other members used to say things like that about me, but you never used to on the old site. Just because I am assertive, that doesn't make me a bad person, does it? I told you, it is not all about me, it is all about protecting people's feelings from being hurt by trolls. What in the world is wrong with that?
    • Ice man
Dan is hardly "the new guy" and he has already stated that the private message system is next after the mobile app is finished. The person I was talking about is a friend of yours. http://www.answerbag.com/q_view/3496193 In the old environment of AB there were mega problems that ran from the very top all the way down to the bottom, and I could understand that you felt the need to stick up for your friends because the place was out of control & corrupt. But I'll repeat myself one more time and say - The old AB is dead and gone. It's time to let it go and move forward leaving all the old nasty baggage behind, like the rest of us have. This is the new AB, free of all the problems that plagued the members of the old site, making your style of "help" redundant on the new site. We have reporting mechanisms in place that work a lot better than your ranting and making hostile threats (which you seem to feel is being helpful & protective). What you may consider to be assertive - others would consider to be aggressive and obnoxious. Which will not gain you the respect of anyone, outside of your local neighborhood. I can't comment on what you do at other websites because this is the only Q&A site that I follow and care about.
    • Bootsiebaby
I meant "new guy" as opposed to the older AB staff. I don't even know if Dan was a member of the old AB or not, I don't remember him there. As for letting the memories of the old site go, maybe I would have done by now if it hadn't been for that "we are dough" pervert. It is his fault and nobody else's that I am carrying on like this. It is hardly fair to pin the blame on me for that, is it?
    • Ice man
I've known you for a long time. I've had many opportunities to quietly observe your behavior here without ever saying a word in public. Now, are you actually trying to tell me that your behavior here has solely been because of this recent "dough-boy" troll ?
    • Bootsiebaby
On this new site, yes. On the old site it was not because of him, it was because of other trolls, I'm sure you know who they are and I am not going to mention their names on here (I did already hint at one of them in an earlier comment on this thread). I have recently formed the impression that something has lowered your opinion of me. What did I do to have that effect on you, Ice man?
    • Ice man
I think you are mistaken about my opinion. But lately I've been annoyed at your inability to see things for what they are and to act in a civil manner towards people who don't necessarily agree with your point of view. Nobody here owes you anything and they have a right to their own opinions. If you want to gain respect ... try playing nice and acting like a lady (like you use to) instead of looking for trouble and acting like a bully. My intention hasn't been to be offensive or insulting, but rather to open your eyes. Here's a gift for you, look at the view number and figure out how old it is - that should clarify something for you. http://www.answerbag.com/q_view/1034050
    • Bootsiebaby
Where have I acted in an uncivil manner towards people who don't agree with my point of view, Ice man? That does not include people who were cocky towards me when they disagreed because that was why I was not very civil towards them - because they were cocky. I don't act like a bully on here (except towards trolls and stalkers, and they deserve it) and I certainly don't look for trouble, in fact I try to nip it in the bud before it starts. I tend to be wary when I see a change in people's disposition whether it was intended to be offensive or not. Change does nothing but make waves as far as I am concerned. As for the poster of that old question, all that tells me is that he was on the old site as a regular user like you or me. I don't remember him from Adam and he might even have left the original site before I joined it. It doesn't tell me anything about his role in the running of the site seven or eight years ago.
  • Were they all posted by the same person? If so, it sounds like we have a troll on the site.
    • Bootsiebaby
I don't think they were all posted by the same person, Nosmo. Some of them were posted by the same person, then one or two other members jumped on that particular trollwagon.
