Which better represents Life and Society - figurative painting or photography?

    I am hobbyist of both - they are very powerful mediums.
    The dedication with which a person works is the deciding factor
    and not the mediums themselves.

    In India, paintings are highly appreciated for creative
    work and expression. They are mostly traditional or
    real life based. Modern art or pop art did not gain
    much popularity in India. Most of the artists feel
    a sense of duty for Indian society.

    Not that I'm trying to get on your good side, but photography. It's more immediate and, somehow, more real. However, phrase the question a bit differently and I would vote for painting. Well, I don't feel too comfortable off my fence.
