A minor in possession or consumption charge can face up to a $1000 fine and/or up to 30 days in jail. The contributing charge is a class C misdemeanor and punishable by a $1000 fine and/or 12 months in jail. Although I don’t practice in Illinois, I know that in most states it is highly unlikely that jail time will be imposed for either offense. However, Illinois state law says the above punishments may be imposed. -
