  • Who would have the privilege of judging whether individuals are responsible or not? Whatever their past lives have been, people should always have the right to change (hopefully for the better), and it would be irresponsible of us to undermine that potential by removing their power.
  • Absolutely, but that also includes the right to suffer the consequences of your actions.
  • every person in this world as been irresponisble at some point in their life. they wouldnt be normal if they hadnt. but we all learn from our mistakes. everybody should still have rights, the right to believe what they want, the right to choose to do what they want etc etc
  • Great Question...and I agree with you. This is what we taught our son. I think to a degree Todd hit a point in fact. Scubaduba even more so. We all have the ability to create change, for the better or for the worse. I think I can say that the few times I've "let go" of what is appropriate in terms of my own responsibilities in life...I've reaped what I've sown, usually pretty fast. The moment of "pleasure" or of simply deciding not to give a chit...almost always turned out NOT to get me what I would have ultimately chosen to have. By the same token, what about the responsible person who is willing to pay the needed cost of responsibility, but is still denied their Basic Civil Rights?
  • It depends on the right. They should be connected: promiscuous people don't get to procreate. They should just make a choice -hot, sterile love or babies, ever. Because so many people get drunk and wake up with a baby that they treat like an STD they spend the next 18 years trying to cure; it's disgusting; while others can't concieve and wait for years trying to adopt. Oh, and drunk/high drivers don't get to drive again ever.
  • No. While it is true that people have rights AND responsibilities, rights are inalienable- we have them simply for being alive. Rights are only lost as punishment for violating the rights of another, not for failing to live up to responsibilities. For that, one loses privileges, not rights. You have a responsibility to be a productive member of society, and for living up to that you get money. If you don't, then no money.
