I'm in awe of some guitarists. Hendrix. Or, I recently saw Les Paul play (on a video) - he isn't just incredible playing, but also practically invented the electric guitar....or at least made it what it is...it blows my mind.

I played alto saxophone and there are some guys that amaze me out there. Boney James and David Sanborn are two of them.

Sure, but we're all differently gifted. I envy the talents of others but am also envied for talents that I have. That helps to keep me in perspective. My inherent talents come easily to me, and they impress others but not me. Music is something I've worked hard for, and I think I appreciate the results of those labours much more than the virtuousity that I didn't have to work on.

I saw Jerry Garcia play a riff live (I was in the front row) which just blew me away. Also, some of the keyboards played by Bruce Hornsby, Billy Joel, and Keith Jarrett are extremely talented. EVH has his unique "tapping" style as well as incredible speed, at least in the earlier days. Those are the ones that stick out as far as performance talent. Composition talent is another subject.
