  • Fainting, by definition, means losing consciousness. The medical term is syncope, or a central ischemic response from a temporary lack of blood oxygen to the brain. If you are already asleep, you are not on a conscious level. So, no, one technically cannot faint while being asleep. However, the symptoms and causes of fainting can be present and, if you believe they present during your sleep, you should visit a qualified Internist to discuss your general health, making sure you describe all your symptoms to your doctor.
  • Despite the other answerer's claim here it's possible to faint while being asleep. It's true that in both cases you are unconscious but the level of unconsciousness differs, which means when you faint more brain cells (parts) stop working. The popular cause of faint during asleep is oxygen insufficiency/-
  • i think i fainted in my sleep...ive been really lethargic for the last few days and ive been hallucinating and very confused. i was dreaming that i was riding my bike up a hill and i fainted and fell off my bike in my dream then i cant remember anything else. afterwards i woke up really confused and dizzy.... im going to the doctors tomorrow anyway because my hands went purple today! lol
  • i last night was asleep and was dreaming and i kept going dissy and then i fainted, like in my dream, and then a few days ago i was feeling realy faint and dissy and then my head was spinning for like 10 minuets and it was really bad and i was feeling sick and even when i closed my eyes i was still spinning, i dont know why it happend but ever since everytime i stand up i go really dissy and woosy , but it was happening beofore that but not as much as now, i really want to know why this is happening, and after reading this, it seems to me that i nearly died? by going unconsious?
