Help answer this question below.
The CD brand or the type of the CD you are using may not be supported by your CD/DVD burner, check its user manual or the website for the brand of your CD/DVD burner for troubleshooting tips, FAQs, forum. OR Try downloading and updating the firmware of your drive.
i had that problem. if you havent burnt cds on your pc before then its probably a dvd drive you have or the cd you re trying to use is notcompatable.
Glad you asked this question, I was having the same problem. I have some lightscribe CD - R disks that burn just fine on my laptop, but when I tried to use my PC it kept saying that there was no disk inserted. However, when I put in a CD-RW disk it recognised the disk and worked just fine. What kind of disks are you using? Maybe you could try a different kind. I will be watching with interest to see if anybody really knows what's going on!
It could be a damaged or partly burned CD. Try another new one. If that doesn't work, it could be your drive. Use a lens cleaner and see if it makes a difference. Otherwise, you might need to repair the drive.
Also make sure that your burning software is pointing to the right drive, some of them can point to virtual devices and you may be getting some unrelated error, open 'my computer' and make sure of the letter of the drive and Always state your OS when you ask a question!
The same thing happened to me. I powered down and powered up (turn off pc and router, then turn back on) This solved the problem
Maybe the lens needs cleaning or the disc is scratched.
Another common mistake in addition to Dragons is the drivers for that CD burner. there could be an update out there that your equipment needs....hope that helps...
Borrow a different brand of CD R from a friend, I like HP, second try to use a different CD R, but most likely is the CDR you are using. 0 Gravity
burn it with nero burning rom. if you are trying to burn it wit windows burner it sometimes fail and says that there is no cd.
Maybe your cdrom is defective or it could be your cd itself.
have you tried cleaning the cd players lens? or is it just with blank discs,?
try going to start up manager and scroll down until you will see disk drive maybe its off turn it on that the same thing happen to me few months ago but now it recognise the drive
flip the disk over
I had this same problem. I found that when I used a RW disk, I had no problem. I also found that if I shut down and reboot, I could write one disk after which I got the same message when attempting to write additional disks. Again, I would shut down and reboot and it worked. I just use RW's now and I don't have the problem.
I got to that point and its says nothing about upper and lower. now what?
Make sure the disc you are inserting is of the right type? It's pointless putting in an 8x disc in a 4x rom.
Here's what you can do:
Check your cd if its already been used, if so try to put a blank cd and if it's still not working, check you burner if it is properly connected and properly installed. Check the software it might be corrupted, if its corrupted try re-installing a new one. Then after checking all of this, restart your computer and try to burn again. Another thing, make sure the blank cd is compatible to the source cd you're trying to burn. If it's a dvd then put a bland dvd cd. Ok. Good Luck. ;)
Is your pc using vista?
Might be a faulty cd try another one
I have a cd burner for 17 if u need one
techpanther.com
proably dont have the right software or drivers
Go and clean with the lens Cleaner before you do check with the other Cd's if it is working or not. If it does not read all cd's then check with the Lens cleaner if the problem is not solved then surely the drive may be in problem.
try another disc, if not, turn pc off and let your drive rest five minutes.
If no luck, buy a new drive like I just had to do myself...
there is a few things, first of all, the cd to burn needs to be cd-rw, second of all you must have a cd burner in your comp., if not there are external ones that are available for purchase. just make sure you have a burner and cd-rw
Either your CD or your cd drive is broken.

Very easy.Go to Start-My Computer-Right click the cd or dvd drive.Click properties.Click Recording and check the little box that says "enable CD" And here we go. Please let me know if everything is ok.
This happened to me once... I fixed it by:
*Open My Computer
*Right Click your Burner and go to Properties
*Tab over to "Recording"
*Make sure the box is checked that reads, "Enable CD Recording on this Drive"
If that box isn't checked, it will act as if there is no disc in the drive.
Your computer needs drivers usually to use a dvd/cd burner. I would check to see if you have the right and recent drivers then see if the cd/dvd is already burnt.
ti mes your burn is bad make a cange
