  • Florida, Colorado, California...most states allow the association to put a lien first then if you ignore that they may forclose for failure to pay maintenance fees...not for fines though. You legally agreed to all their rules when you signed the mortgage, and most states only allow a few weeks to back out if you did not know you were buying into an Association run community. It's cheaper to sell and move than try to fight the Association in Civil court.
