I feel like it is now. The customer service seems slow now. They keep making excuses about why won't they return the product now. They won't help , but rather sit there and say, "I don't know!".

I do not feel the age of customer service is over. When people need help and they do not know who to go to, they can always go to Customer Service.

I don't want it to be, but it seems that way now. It's a two part problem: 1. Many unscrupulous people abuse the principles of good customer service just to get stuff free or be picky. 2. Companies have near-monopolies in a market and they know that you will come back whether they treat you bad or not.

I really do think that customer service is on it's death bed. I can't tell you how many companies or stores that I've experienced the absolute worst customer service at. I think the trend now for companies is keep the consumer running and jumping through hoops- and eventually they'll stop demanding repair service or will buy a new product. I always return to a business where I feel like I've gotten good customer service.

I definitely feel like it is. I feel like it doesn't matter anymore what the customer wants. Sure, I know how policies work- people who act like a jerk ruin it for the real people who don't steal, or act like a jerk. But even in the small shops, where people need a client base to continue- it seems like it doesn't matter any more.

CUstomer Service? What's that? The customer is not always right anymore. Clerks and phone operators don't care about you, they only care how long they can get you off the phone. There are no real people anymore, If they are real, they live in India and don't care. Waiters don't wait, Clerks don't help, and those associates at Home Depot and Lowe's don't know diddly!

It's getting there. Sprint just terminated over a thousand accounts of people who they claim called their customer service too much! If that's not a sign, I don't know what is. Seriously, a thousand customers out of 50 million are really causing that much trouble? They just canned the people that called the most. What's the message? "Stop calling customer service!"

I think the age of Customer Service is just starting. LOUSY customer service, that is. I recently called Microsoft to get some help solving a problem with some content I'd downloaded to my Xbox 360. The customer service reps didn't speak english very well, and weren't willing to try and help me so I had them connect me to a supervisor. The supervisor told me he'd refund the Microsoft points I'd spent on the content (because the content didn't work). Well, a week later - still no sign of a refund, so I called back and was told that since my console hadn't been repaired or replaced that they couldn't give me a refund - even AFTER the first supervisor I'd talked to guaranteed me a refund. So now I'm jumping through hoops with the better business bureau trying to get Microsoft to honor the refund they promised me, but Microsoft isn't responding. I'm so pissed.
