Yes, and i would highly suggest she pays for full coverage for your auto. if she is involved in an auto accident and at-fault, not only her insurance coverage will become involved, but also yours. you would not want to go this alone. you could loose everything. This is a noble gesture on your part, but protect yourself and your possessions.....insist and make her prove coverage, on your loaned automobile.

Check around first. I purchased my daughter a car for graduation. Although its financed by me, she has her own insurance. Now my finance company is claiming that I am in default because the car isn't in my possession.

Yes, but it would be in your best interest not to. You are liable for any harm that results from your friends negligence/intentional acts. Thus, it would be in your best interest to get insurance yourself, and have your friend pay you for the premiums.
