for the most part, cats/kittens will automatically start using something like that once they know where it is. I would start with them and the litter box in some kind of cage for a couple of days...and only get them out when they can be supervised. THey should begin to use the litter box without any additional help. If they dont, then you will have to watch more carefully and the moment they start to try to go potty, you will have to place them in the litter box...GOOD LUCK! also, changing the placement of the litter box can really screw with your cats head...so be aware of this before moving it drastically away from its orginal spot (like to a completely different room). so where ever you have the cage with the litter box, should probably be the room in which the litter box will be.
Keep them where you can clean it up. If they start going on the floor, put them in the box. Other than that, really their mother will teach them, so you don't have to worry about it much. Cats like digging to go potty in a hole, so a litter box is fairly natural for them.
