When i took my cockatiel that we had found outside to a bird place he told us to give her a unsalted cracker with peanut butter on it to fatten her up a bit. but your vet may say somthing differnt, hope this helps

Firstly I would take this poor bird to a vet and have it looked over, it may need a special diet to recover essential vitamins it has lossed. Also it may be de-hydrated and need proper medical attention. See what condition the bird is in when you get it, observe if it is eating and drinking normally, this way you can notify the vet if anything is worrying you. Birds kept in dark rooms for long periods may also have eye sight problems, im not a vet so a proffesional opinion is your safest option. Good luck i hope you give it the home it deserves.

A vet must come first because of ill health. Introducing anything slowly is the key. This cockatiel will be confused, in shock, possibly saddened by the loss of whoever used to be there. Moving slowly will be a must introducing this bird to anything.
Please consider that this bird may possibly be an original 'lost' bird that someone is desperately looking for and has posted on different bird sites. Like me, I would love to have my cockatiel back home regardless of the condition.
