Who says it is the best language? It is not even the most spoken language in the world. I think the question is wrong from its foundations.

As I do not know every language in the world, I cannot objectively say that English is the best. I can say why English is a good language, if that's what you are interested in knowing. 1. It is one of the most widely used languages in the world. If we consider the purpose of language to aid in communication with other human beings, English does an exemplary job in fulfilling this task. 2. A large portion of the worlds literature exists in the English language. By understanding English, you gain the ability to understand a great deal of human knowledge that originated in other languages. 3. The English lexicon is so wide and varied that you can express anything you may desire, provided you know the meanings of the proper words. 4. When used properly, it is a thing of great aesthetic appeal. A beautiful language, as it were.

What a ridiculous question. Try to learn other languages before asking. How do you define "the best"? it is very subjective and let me guess your next question "What is the best race on the planet?".

It's not. With its permanent association with British colonialism and American militarism and commercialism, it may well be maligned by hundreds of generations to come.
