  • It was for for several people I know! If something goes seriously wrong, vet bills can stack up to hundreds or even thousands, and it is nice to have the option for treatment instead of having the animal put to sleep because you can't afford a surgery.
  • I wholeheartedly agree with lynnenorth. My husband and I did not have pet insurance for our first cat Tier. Long story short, we suffered a heartbreaking loss that may have been avoided had we had insurance for out kitten.
  • Absolutely. Even if nothing ever happens to your kitty (what are the odds of that?), you should be able to get your moneys worth just by having yearly checkups & vaccinations covered. Our policy saved a lot last time we took Tony & Isis in for their yearlies. The vet noticed a funny noise when listening to Tonys heart. Come to find out, he's got a valve in his heart not closing all the way; a heart murmur. There's not much they can do yet (the meds have long term side effects) as it isn't really affecting him yet. They just want to monitor it. That means an ultrasound every 4-6 months @ around $300 a pop. More info: http://vetpetinsurance.blogspot.com/2009/03/pet-insurance-for-cats.html
