  • I suppose if you propose unlikely concepts like God Almighty having a begotten (biologically reproduced) son, and God The Immortal becoming mortal man then you have to contend with questions like this one. Jesus, the “son of man” to give him his preferred title, was a strict OT monotheist who openly declared in Mark 12:29 “The Lord our God is one Lord”. He would wholeheartedly agree with the definition of God given in the Holy Qur’an revealed to his cousin in neighbouring land in HQ 112 translated here from the original text by Mr Pickthall “Say: He is Allah, the One! Allah, the eternally Besought of all! He begetteth not nor was begotten. And there is none comparable unto Him.” The union is impossible as God Almighty is immortal whereas Mary was a mere mortal.
  • Because Mary was playin' Joseph, and when she finally got preagant, she just said she was a virgin and exclaimed God was the father, so he wouldn't know she was a cheatin' on him!
  • Well, I'm not a Christian, but I believe that the concept was that it was an immaculate conception, i.e. done without sexual intercourse, or even a physical meeting. So how can you marry somebody you've never met?
  • Jesus was created by God, Jehovah (John 3:16). Jesus existed prior to the Genesis account, as a spirit being (John 1:1). At the time he was named Michael, and was the Archangel - the leader of all the angels (Hebrew 1:6). Michael is the name for Jesus prior to his arrival on earth. In order to provide a ransom sacrifice - to atone for the sin of Adam and the fall of man - Jesus came down to earth as a human being. This was done because only a perfect man, as Jesus/Michael was, could atone for the sins of a man who was born into a perfect state - Adam. The role of bringing Jesus into the world was given to Mary. If you read the account of Mary in the New Testament, you'll see that an angel also went to Joseph - to explain Mary's role and that it wasn't an illegitimate child...or anything improper.....it was actually one of the greatest task, and great honor. As for Jehovah, God, marrying a human being - we can't even look at Jehovah (John 1:18) and have never seen him. Marriage is a sacrament only bound to us while we are on earth for this life, not eternity (Matthew 22:29-30)...and therefore we can assume that also applies to heavenly+earthly bonds. There was no reason for him to marry Mary - she was given the very special role of the vessel in which to carry Jesus, and that's it...she has no greater bond to Jehovah or deification of any kind....as a result of being given that task. The New Testament makes it quite clear that she was human, before and after the birth.....and by no means a deity....as some religions wrongly make her out to be.
