  • Generally, no. it depends....on the state you live and seriosness of the crime. believe it or not, a shoplifting conviction will stay on you record for your lifetime. why? the theory is that if you steal $10 worth of beer, that if given the opportunity, you will steal $10 million dollars. the intent is still the same. and, you can forget becoming a government employee.
  • I agree that a felony conviction may or may not be expunged, depending on the laws of your particular state. What people fail to realize when asking this question is that the felony arrest will always be with you as a matter of public record.. Any private concern or governmental agency doing a inquiry check on your background is going to find this. SO BE PREPARED TO HAVE AN APPROPRIATE ANSWER WHEN ASKED ABOUT IT.
