Haha! Great observation. I don't usually wear revealing clothes but if I do catch a guy checking me out I'm always flattered. The ones who pretend to be offended are just 'plastic feminists'. They hope that wearing a revealing dress will give them the chance to get offended at a man.
Frankly, we loved to be looked at and appreciated but not gawked at. I love the feeling of knowing I look nice and having someone appreciate the work it takes to look pretty. However, staring can go too far and get a bit creepy also. I absolutely appreciate when someone looks at me and appreciates my femininity. I love the rush of knowing I am appealing at the time. Perhaps because im transgendered I can see both sides but inside I am all girl and all I know is an appreciative look from a man can do it for me. Learn how to look at her in an appreciative way and you may be surprised rather than a staring gawk. hugs, Dana

It's part of the game--try not looking at them and they get even more annoyed.
I don't get offended. I feel flattered.
cause we're stupid girls... ;'( but we look damn good right?
honestly it because of how our society portrays women. we're good for sex n thats about it. being a woman is all about having nice boobs, sexy body, n a hot ass. real brains, common sense, n logic- not required. we're just something to fuck... n somehow we've accepted that. so we give em what they want.... bunch of dumb slutty babes.
i think they get mad when guys they dont like are staring at them.
If this issue had not happend in 1993 I would not have met my wife in a department store, I watched from a distance then went over to ofer some help and complemented her clothing and we shopped together for several hours and got coffee later.
the rest is history!
Because guys don't just look and look away. They stare, and follow women around the room. Either with their eyes or phycially behind them. How can that not be creepy?
Women have the luxury of being able to dress as they please in public, almost and they can decide who they enjoy having look at them. As already said they may enjoy the looks or stares of a man they think is attractive and not enjoy the same exact looks from a creepy looking guy. In a way it is a mating game as to say I will mate with you and you, but not you and definitely not you, are you kidding me! This is the way it is. I don't often get offended if men are looking at me unless I start feeling uncomfortable as he is staring and staring, talking to his friends and making me feel like a piece of meat so it is important that staring, gawking, ogling and drooling are not the same as looking at me with approval. Girls know what I mean there is a difference between looked at and being stripped by a man. There is a good way to do it and a bad way to do it. Most guys know the difference! Checking women out in sexy skirts, sheer tops, tight pants or whatever is fine but there are lines and just because I am wearing a mini skirt and fishnets doesn't mean I am going to let you f*^% me so please be discreet. It is fun being admired for takingi the time to look hot but it isn't an invitation to get naked. If you get an offended look, at least from me perhaps you made me feel uncomfortable instead of appreciated, desired and from afar, not in my face!
I don't know but I'd love to have the answer, too. For instance, we all know women specifically buy jeans that make their butt look good (they even check it out in the mirror before buying) and then get annoyed if they catch you looking.
i wear revealing or sexy clothes in public to tease guys. i love it when a guy looks at my ass in a tiny miniskirt.
We really are not offended but just want others to think so. Other wise we may not bethought of as nice.
I'm offended when people *don't* look at my legs when I'm out in a short skirt, pantyhose, and heels.
I just found this page, but I will post a response anyway. All of you have seemed to overlooked one thing--true exhibitionists. I relish the thought--yes the thought, of being seen. I know I must be a pervert, but I really get a thrill, sexual and otherwise, at being seen naked and in revealing clothes by strangers; men and women. I am not a slut, and do not sleep around--I just have a craving to be seen. I have a good body and am fairly attractive--perhaps a 7.5 out of 10; so I get lots of looks anway--my husband enjoys my being seen too. I even go on vacatios where I can sunbathe naked.I started off, years ago, wearing revealing clothes at my Hubby's prompting--and found that I liked it. I now have an entire wardrobe of see thru clothes and tops. I wear them when we are away on vacations. At festivals, I get body painted, walk nude around inside bars. I remove my tops when I ride in the car on trips, and flash truckers. I have a good job, career, and a stable marriage--so I am sort of "normal"--wear normal clothes at home so no one in the family or neighborhood knows of my addiction to exposure!! I have hundreds of photos with me standing with strangers--I am always naked and at some event. Does any other women have this desire to be exposed in front of strangers? I have never had sex with anyone but my husband--though in the photos the stangers are often fondling my breasts and nipples--so this is not about sex with strange people--it is just about being seen as naked as possible by people that I don't know, and lightly touched by them. Please give me your serious opinions and thoughts--am I normal--do I need help--is my "hobby" that strange? Thanks Wendy
Well....we dress like that to attract mates (Biology 101). But we don't always know what to do when that actually happens! However, we learn very, very quickly when the male 'looker' is attractive! If not attractive, we do the "How dare you!" posture to ward them off from approaching.
Anthropologically speaking, this is an instinct...women and men do this 'mating dance' in every culture in the world, including indigenous people in the Amazon jungles and the Masai in Africa. Attract - Repel...attract - repel...attract - wham!Zowie! fireworks!
don't tell me you really believe they get offended...of course they don't!
If she shows that she enjoys being looked at then us guys get all horny and won't let them live in peace any more, so she's got to pretend that she's disturbed
I know! Girls who go out in short skirts and heels and low tops have no right to get mad at the fact that guys stare at them. I occasionally dress sexy when I'm out and about and have no problem with guys looking, it's flattering. Girls have to realize that yes, men will look! Duh. Now there's a difference between guys just looking or even say giving a whistle or a grin, and being really obscene about it; I don't agree with guys shouting out vulgar innuendos or feeling they have a right to go up to her and grab her ass. But looking, cmon of course they'll look...
I am one that gets upset if they don't check me out. I guess I'm one of the honest ones. Today I bought an outfit for an event we are going to and I asure you there will be little to the imagination, I would be disapointed if I don't cause a few stiff dicks.
Hmm this is one of my 'pet hates' about other females and nothing irritates me more than watching them tug at hems, pull up necklines or the wearing of cardigans which they pull over their tits at the first sign of a man approaching. Duh! I always groan and think or mutter ' oh for f*** sake why did u go out in it if u can't wear it with confidence?'.. I mean, we all know how much time we spend trying stuff on in shops, and testing in front of mirrors b4 we go out so why wear revealing kit when ur gonna freak if guys look at you for more than a millisec?
I havent ever understood this but then I'm an avowed exhib dresser who doesnt give a XXXX who sees what and enjoys the thrill of the flash, as well as being confident that if other women don't approve its not gonna bother me. The trend to start labelling men who look/gawp at us as 'creepy' and all this 'street harrassment' nonsense is something that really gets me annoyed lately... ok dress as u want but at least realise that every action DOES have consequences so if you don't like it looked at, keep it covered.. otherwise we may as well all be in ninja burkas and told what we can show or not, as many less free women are around the world.
My wife has recently started wearing very revealing and sexy clothes when we go out. She has pretty big boobs (34E) and seems to get a real thrill out of having them pretty much all out there and on display - tight, low cut sweaters, plunge neck dresses with no bra, etc. This makes her feel real sexy and she likes the attention.
She does have a very hot body and I love looking at her, but am just beginning to get used to seeing her get so much attention. I don't mind so much if she provides people a flash here and there, but don't want this to get out of hand.
I have one dress that I love to wear out in public, its a thin white guaze dress that I picked up in Spain. I like to wear dark colored thong underneath it as I think it looks sexy. I get a lot of stares and I enjoy that very much! Its just part of the mating ritual I guess...
they don't dress for guys. they dress to impress other woman.

You're reading Why do women wear "revealing" or "sexy" dress in public, but then get offended if they catch some guy(s) staring at them?
