Boiling certainly does not remove chlorine from water, but it may reduce the amount enough for you to not taste it, as when the water is bubbling small parts of the chlorine will be evaporated off with the water. Many chlorinated water supplies have no obvious taste of chlorine, but it is there.

Isn't it fluoride that they put in tap water? Do they add chlorine as well?

It is apparently untrue that fluoride has any beneficial effects on our teeth. (Author, Albert E. Carter says) Both chlorine and fluoride are very hard on our bodies and why add to the chemical burden. The minute I started drinking reverse osmosis water I noticed it was easier on my stomach and I have used a natural fluoride-free toothpaste for more than a year with no cavities as a result. Everyone is different, but I think it's always a good idea to pause and look at why we do what we do. My answer doesn't exactly answer your question, I'm really responding Jimmy's comment about the fluoride, and my own concerns about chlorine. Thanks. Vivienne.

When water is boiled, the chlorine is released as a gas.
