  • Here's the idea (and yes, yours truly would be the author if there were enough support for it): - When you've selected a user to ignore, their answers and questions are suppressed in all the obvious places; - If any content is suppressed on the page, a link would appear that says "Show content from ignored users", so you could see what was suppressed - In comment chains, the user's comment would be replaced with a link that says {show comments from [username]} - On the Tools menu for Firefox, you would be able to view / edit the list of ignored users. This task would take significant effort on my part, I'm not likely to do it for just myself... but if enough other users were interested that would provide some motivation.
  • If I am reading it correctly, It could also help with the trolling right? If enough people igore them they will go away? I think its a great idea.
  • I support this idea! There are definitely a couple users who I wouldn't mind 'ignoring'.
  • You've got my vote!!
  • It would crash my machine I'd be hitting it too much... ;-)
  • I think it's a great idea. Yes, I would use it.
  • I don't think I would. I mean- Never say never, but I like being able to read everything, and having my own opinions about things. Life isn't just about ignoring things and they'll go away, so I don't treat AB like that. I'm sure you'll get a high popluation of people who would want it, but I like to know the whole story. I vote no. Good idea though, SB!
  • I am too paranoid about missing something. i never know whatj i don't know and I seem to want to know it all.
  • Use it? Heck, I'd PAY for it! The noises coming from the asylum are a little too loud these days, LOL.
  • Probably not... I tend to read even the most annoying comments at times, to understand why a person may be feeling the way they are - I might go to their profile and read their interactions with those I respect. Call me Pollyanna-like if you choose, but I believe that most ill-behaved folks can change, given the right circumstances to do so. In summary, all challenges (including people's behaviors) may in fact, be real opportunities for enlightenment.
  • Darn it! Stop ignoring me Stableboy!!! Yes, I would use it :)
  • At the current moment, I know about ten users who I would like to pretend that don't exist because I neither care for their contributions in any shape or form. Comment blocking would be a huge plus. It would indeed be a boon.
  • I would love to have that option SB. I think it would be very useful. I give it a yes vote.
  • I like to read everyones opinions, if I agree with them or not. So I would not use it no.
  • Count me in please!!!
  • I'd use it - I'm already running your Bernice blocker.
  • Okay after having read a very small amount of the above posts this is what I think. Since the last time I was blasted on this site I have ceased to care about points and as far as the attacking comments I simply choose not to read them. If I see that someone has absoulutely nothing positive to share I don't need an ignore button. I simply don't read the comment. BTW the more energy we give to the people on this site who simply like to stir things up. The more they will do it.
  • I only WISH that AB would offer this feature!
  • You know I'm not (100%) sure. In life you have to deal with all sorts of folks you don't like much. Also, sometimes relationships change, evolve in both directions....given time.
  • I have a block on someone who consistently sent emails that were so large that they kept freezing my system and I had to go through a variety of machinations to unfreeze it..I informed him on at least two specific occasions to stop including us on distributions of huge emails..he ignored it, so I blocked him. If someone were stalking me, or harrassing me or ignoring my requests, I would love to have an "ignore this user" button..but otherwise, you deal with who shows up on your doorstep..you acknowledge, agree with, disagree with, or ignore completely..that's a goodly number of options.:(
  • Well, AdBlock Plus helps you to block their images, if that helps. But, no, I dont think I would use it. I have a little more self control than that. It would be much easier to just ignore anything like that. That negates the community aspect of this place.
  • I have my very own way of "Ignoring" a user. It works. Really works :) So, I don't see any need for me to use anything else :):):)
