Yes, both promote the idea that there is a Ghost that will punish or reward you for your behavior, instead of treating you like a rational adult who can decide things for yourself based upon the facts of relaity.

Yes... In principle! They teach of God (& His Plan for Us) & Christ (& His Mission) Love & Understanding, Principles & Ordinances of Salvation. The Trouble people have in accepting the Book of Mormon is that (as the Bible)Some Accounts are for Historical Reference so... As the Bible has stories of Murder, Incest & War etc...If one was to Flick to a page & read a odd verse then think that is what it teaches, One would be Sorely mistaken.

No. The Bible is a book worthy of study. It has stood the test of time. God's word is within it and with study we can at least begin to understand God's plan. The Bible possesses definite internal and external textual evidences that point to its own authenticity. The Bible is a reliable historical document. The Book of Mormon is a modern fake/literary hoax written by a social politician not a prophet of God. Joseph Smith first "claimed" that he authored it then later said he translated it. Joseph Smith and his family had been heavily involved in ritual magic, astrology and alchemy. B of M was copied in part from KJV yet B of M was supposedly written 2000 years before KJV existed. Too many inconsistencies. . JS never acknowledged using the KJV of the Bible to "translate B of M. Without maps and archaeological evidence the Book of Mormon's claim to be the Word of God is disqualified. ----------------------------------- The October 13, 1997 issue of US News and World Report contains an article titled, "No new hoax under the sun" (p.9). The article discusses literally hoaxes; specifically, claims to find and translate ancient manuscripts that never actually existed. The first known literary hoaxes were perpetrated upon the Ptolemaic rulers of Egypt, who created a huge market for fakes by offering hefty sums for ancient Greek manuscripts. In the centuries since, the craft has settled into well-established conventions. The story of a rare manuscript discovered in unusual circumstances and translated under terms of strict secrecy is a particularly clever angle, for it avoids the hard work of ginning up an actual forgery of the original document that can stand up to direct scrutiny. This "story" should sound familiar to anyone familiar with the background to the "coming forth" of Book of Mormon. http://www.dtl.org/cults/article/bible-bm.htm

Here is an excellent link: http://www.lhvm.org/vid_bible_med.htm ***************************** The BoM has a lot of things that seem to be in line with the Bible but there are still contradictions... Too bad that the LDS beliefs have strayed from the Bible AND the BoM. Here is a contradiction: BoM: We are saved after all that we can do. Bible: We are save by God's Grace through Faith, this not of ourselves but is a Gift from God. THis is kind of a higher level contradiction: BoM: Has no objective, unbiased, Historical evidence (Smithsonian does not recognize it as a historical document). Bible: Has been proven time and time again to be historically accurate through archeological and manusctipy evidence. BoM: States that God is Spirit Bible: States that God is Spirit Current Mormon Beliefs: God is a Man with a Physical body. BoM: States God, Jesus and Holy Ghost are One Bible: States God, Jesus and Holy Ghost are One Current Mormon beliefs; God, Jesus and Holy Ghost are all separate Gods. If you keep researching there are a lot more...

"Do the Book of Mormon and the Bible teach the same things?" ... NO! The Holy Bible is based off of the inspiration of the Holy Spirit of God ... and the Book of Mormon, respectively, is based off of the false prophecies of Joseph Smith. Here is a VERY interesting documentary on this subject: ...

A poster earlier said some things which needs to be corrected. --------------------------------------- Here is a contradiction: BoM: We are saved after all that we can do. Bible: We are save by God's Grace through Faith, this not of ourselves but is a Gift from God. ------------------- Its a nice paraphrase, but it does not reflect the truth. heres what the BOM actual does say: 2 Ne. 25: 23 23 For we labor diligently to write, to persuade our children, and also our brethren, to believe in Christ, and to be reconciled to God; for we know that it is by grace that we are saved, after all we can do. The BOM agrees with the Bible. Grace is what saves us, above and beyond anything that we can or do. -------------------------------------- THis is kind of a higher level contradiction: BoM: Has no objective, unbiased, Historical evidence (Smithsonian does not recognize it as a historical document). Bible: Has been proven time and time again to be historically accurate through archeological and manusctipy evidence. ------------------------------------------- So what do we do when we find out that Egypt was not conquered by King Nebechadnezer like the Bible Chronicles and many other Historic inconsitancies? There is a lot of "evidence" in the dirt for the BOM. If you know where to look. ------------------------------- BoM: States that God is Spirit Bible: States that God is Spirit Current Mormon Beliefs: God is a Man with a Physical body. -------------------------------- Is not Christ a spirit with a Physical Body? What precludes his father from having one too? Does not John 3:6 say that everyone who has been born again is spirt also. Yet all how many million of them have bodies? ----------------------------- BoM: States God, Jesus and Holy Ghost are One Bible: States God, Jesus and Holy Ghost are One Current Mormon beliefs; God, Jesus and Holy Ghost are all separate Gods. ----------------------------- No. They are 3 serperate divine beings/persons unified in power and purpose. Even the Bible agrees with this. They are one as a couple are one.
