Question

Help answer this question below.

My new AMD Athlon 64x2 Processor 4400+ has one PCIe x1 and one PCIe x16 slots. I am going to put a new video card in the x16 slot. What can I do with the remaining x1 slot? I would tend to think two x16 slots would have been more versatile.

I believe most PCI Express cards are still for graphics right now. But I've seen gigabit network cards and other controller cards showing up for the PCI Express platform. Just like when ISA went away, PCI was mostly for graphics at first, then everything was made for PCI. I would imagine the same thing will happen with PCI Express.

Yes, two x16 slots is nice, especially with nVidia SLi support where you can use two video cards to power a single monitor and double the graphics performance.

Okay the question is ughh worded wrongly the Pci slots would be on your motherboard not you processor, but you remaining can be used for other expansion items like a sound card, or modem. Also if you have a AGP slot it would be better if you bought a video card to fit that slot instead. By the sound of it it looks like your mother board should have one.
