The saying goes "Manx may be short of tail, but long on personality." And also “When Mother Nature saw fit to remove the tail of the Manx, she left, in place of the tail, more cat.” A Manx isn't a cat for someone that just wants a beautiful decoration for their home. They insist on being the center of attention and in the middle of the entire family. NO favorites with them. They love to play and fetch and are considered a little more intelligent than othe4r cats. They are similar to Ocicat and Bengals. They often love water and can be trained to do tricks. They are the perfect dog for people that don't want to have a dog. Their place in the family is similar to a dog. They follow you around and are very good joiners. And they keep their high level of activity and energy way into adulthood and old kitty age. We have had some that were pushing 20 and still very active and jumping on everything. And I think the way they move is a bit more dog-like. They have rounder movements than other cats, some say like a rabbit but I don't think so. They are built a bit different than other cats. It's just not lacking a tail. Some Manx have short tails and they exhibit these same traits. The breed can be traced back to the Isle of Man and possibly brought there by Vikings from the north. They didn't develop with other cats so they are rather unique of breeding.
