    The easy ways are:

    - Rear spoiler (this is often added to touring models, so it's no guarantee)
    - Front spoiler (see note for rear spoiler)
    - No sunroof
    - No rear windshield wiper
    - Fabric seats, not leather
    - No BOSE stereo poking up through the trunk cover

    Other differences:
The R1/R2's have stiffer suspension than the other models. They also have dual oil coolers, and a red strut across the front two suspension towers to make the car more rigid. Of course, all of these things can be added later, but this is how to tell the difference assuming the car is stock.

all of the options that the previous person gave u are all options when someone bought a 93 rx7. this person is right about the suspension though but its obviously impossible to tell this by looking at the car. the only way to tell for sure is the dual oil coolers which can be easly spotted by looking to the left and right of the center "mouth" of the front bumper. they look like small radiators. this was the only thing that was not available as an option when purchased new. if it has 2 its an R1 and if it has only one it is a R2
