Maybe I'm wrong in this assumption, but I thought it was illegal (not to mention unethical) for 1 lawyer to represent two sides in one case. In any case, it's a very bad way to save money, when in the end, it could (and did, obviously) cost you far more than it would have saved you. In the event of a divorce, one woudl also assume that you would BOTH need to sign the final papers. You should definitely talk to another lawyer. Find one that will allow you an initial consultation for free, or at a low-cost, to simply assess your situation, and find out if you are in the right.
