It is a poor shape but fortunately there are good projects. Please read http://www.ncpa.org/pub/ba/ba464/

Very much so. I have a daughter who is out of work right now, and the cheapest form of medical she can get runs about $500 a month. America simply has to come up with a basic plan for the uninsured.

The American healthcare system is a good example of the haves and have nots. The few that can afford it get it and the majority don't get it.The ones that benefit the most are the lawyers and the insurance companies.Socialize medicine is the only alternative.

Yes, but the solutions that are being discussed are no solutions at all. I've said this many times. Tweaking the current system will only add cost and solve nothing in the long run. The only solution is to end the for profit health care system. Because it is what it is. For profit. There's a reason that every other civilized country in the world has rejected this system. Because they are what they are. Civilized. The US system is a mean spirited jungle where some are consumed and thrown away while others feast, particularly the industrial providers of health care services. Grossly unfair. Totally uncivilized. Quintessentially American.

Yes, it's the number #1 killer in America.

Yes, I am! But fortunately I live in UK.

Yes, I have a neighbor who is working for a small company that doesn't offer HealthCare insurance. She has the money to pay for for a private Insurance Plan. BUT, since she has a pre-existing condition. NO Greedy Healthcare provider would insure her. She has been rejected by BlueCross, BlueShield, UnitedHealthcare and so on. She doesn't qualify for medicare or whatever programs currently available. Upon further research, they are millions with pre-existing conditions who are automatically denied. America, the RICHEST country in the world (or so we like to brag about it), can't offer its citizens Healthcare. Yet, we love to help those in Africa, Iraq, and Afghanistan, and they pay us back by killing our soldiers.

No. If I loose my coverage I still get treated. It just takes me a little longer to pay it back.
