  • You are the new owner and any regulations applying to the ownership of firearms apply to you. It does not matter how you come by the weapon, you have acquired it in the eyes of the law. It may also be the legal responsibility of the executor of the estate to ensure that you are legally permitted to own firearms (e.g., hold a valid license to possess firearms) before any can be released to you.
