That can depend on the equipment you already have. If you have a VHS player that has three jacks, one red, one white and one yellow either on the front or the back then you're in luck. With a usb input device such as the dazzle dvd recorder ( http://www.pinnaclesys.com/PublicSite/us/Products/Consumer+Products/Home+Video/Dazzle/?dz=1 ) would allow you to plug a three-jack cable from your VHS player to the dvd recorder and do it that way. If you don't have these three jacks then on top of the usb input device you will need some method of playing the tapes that does have the three jacks. Talk to your local video store about the options for that.

Why not just dupe the VHS to a DVD? If you don't have a VHS player with the proper jacks, most video stores will do it for you for about five bucks or less (well, this would depend on where you live). This, of course depends on copyright laws.
