  • You can see if the manufacturer has a larger alternator for the vehicle. If not an alternator shop might be able to make yours put out more amps.
  • The battery is meant to provide power for starting, running accessories while the vehicle is off, provide a constant current for the ECU, and provide power in cases of overdraw on the alternator. Under normal circumstances, the alternator should be able to power everything in the vehicle with reserve capacity available. Given that you have a scooter presents a unique problem. 1) I don't know why you'd buy a stereo for a scooter and 2) the scooter's electrical system is made to power only what is included with the vehicle, not any accessories. Call the manufacturer and ask what the specs are for the alternator in the scooter, then go to a parts store and see if they have one that will give you more amps. This is the way to power the stereo. Otherwise you can turn the stereo on for 5 minutes, shut it off, let the battery recharge, then turn it on for another 5 mins, repeat. Not very convenient, but it would work.
  • Since you do not have an alternator, the battery must charge by way of a resistor/regulator/diode circuit of some sort. That method can only support a very small charge, almost a"trickle"charge. Most typical car stereos draw very little current,so either your battery is whipped, your charge devices are shot,or the stereo you have chosen is a bit too hungry for power. What to do?Well, either get a stereo like the original,or consider carrying a small.extra,12 volt battery which is not charged by your scooter but rather, from a small charger that you can plug in at home.Even scooter or motorcycle type batteries will power a radio for a long time on a single charge. Just hookup only the stereo to it and nothing else. Hope this helps and is not too vague.Good luck!
  • If you get a 12volt 5AH or 12 volt 7 AH battery, it should power any stereo kit you have for about 5-7 hours. Just buy a SLA battery charger off batteries A to Z (they're only like $15 for the one with the green and red lights), and recharge the battery when it goes down. Just put the battery in your glovebox, where I'm sure is where your amplifier is. Check out the systems I do at www.scooterstereo.com for some ideas and email me if you have any further questions. Cheers!
  • Not without getting foolish. This is where an MP3 player comes into play. It IS a scooter.
