Taking your pill at the same time every day isn't related to the effectiveness of the pill. It simply helps you to make taking your pill part of your daily routine, which makes it less likely that you'd forget to take one altogether. My ob-gyn told me that unless you completely miss your pills for three days, your risk of becoming pregnant doesn't increase significantly. That being said, you should still use a backup method of birth control if you miss two pills in a row, just to be on the safe side since your chance of pregnancy DOES increase a small bit.
