  • That depends entirely on your vans gross vehicle weight rating. You will find the GVWR listed on a sticker in the driver side door jam. Add the weight of the vehicle to the weight of whatever your towing to make sure that your within the towing capabilities of the van. GVWR varies significantly even within the same make and model vehicles because of the different options that were spec'd when the van was built. Axle size, brake system, and suspension components all play a role in determining the vehicle's weight carrying capacity. Note: Many (not all) conversion vans marked as G20 (or Ford E250, or Dodge B2500 really aren't 3/4 ton's. You can tell this by the fact that the wheels are only 5 lug, meaning they used lighter duty axles. Often conversion vans are near their load capacity with just passengers and luggage, and really shouldn't tow anything. They have very light GVWR's, often 6500lbs or less.
