Depending on the type(s) of insect(s) these are some of the basic differences: Insects breath through openings on the sides of their abdomins. Many have multi-faceted eyes which is sort of like a phased-array radar; they can look in many different directions at the same time without moving their heads. Arachnids (spiders) have 8-eyes grouped in sets of 2 with each set pointed in 4 different direction. Many Insects sense smell via their antennai while others sense sounds through them. Some insects experience taste through sensors in their legs. Do date, no insect has been found that has a pain center in its brain. Insects are incapable of feeling pain as we know it.
