  • If you really want to get away, try Busick, NC. It sits in the shadow of Mt. Mitchell (Highest point east of the Mississippi) on NC-80, just off the Blue Ridge Parkway. There's a hotel there called Albert's Inn, owned by German Immigrants. They also rent contemporary A-frame cabins if you prefer that. Their restaurant is "By Appointment" and the food is absoulutely excellent. The Mt. Mitchell golf course is adjoining the property, and there are trout streams nearby. The phone # for Albert's Inn is 828-675-4691. If it sounds expensive, relax. You'd spend more staying overnight in Charlotte or Greensboro. It's a small community, Don't blink or you'll miss it. Enjoy!
  • Browse for travel sites: Blue Ridge Parkway Asheville,NC Pisgah Forest Brevard,NC Hot Springs,NC There are lots of nice little cabin getaways. In maybe 3 price ranges. Also, B&Bs, cottages, and lots of things to do around that general area. Also, check out Pilot Knob Inn, on the internet, look at the Tobacco Barn cabins. I stayed there, it was incredible. But not much to do there at Pilot Mountain.
