Unfortunately it seems both. First he killed his wife, then his son, then himself.:( Though in my opinion, i think there is something more to it!
-
I never heard of the guy until the news report. Sadly this kind of thing happens each day with people who are not in the public eye. Just a sad testimony of the times we live in.

WAGA, a FOX-owned and operated television station in Atlanta, reported that investigators believe Benoit killed his wife and 7-year-old son over the weekend, then himself on Monday. http://www.wwe.com/shows/ecw/superstars/chrisbenoit/articles/benoitupdate

Apparently, he strangled his wife in the home office and smothered his child in the kids bed over the weekend and then Chris hung himself in the home gym on Monday. There are rumors of "roid rage' being the reason for these horrible acts. This is so sad and when I heard about it last night on the 10pm news, I was so shocked that when I saw his picture and the headline, I screamed "CHRIS!". One of his best friends, Eddie Guerrero, also a WWE wrestler, died last year of alcohol/drug use and I was saddened too. I REALLY liked Chris Benoit and think he (and Eddie too)was a great wrestler- he was a little bruiser and had great moves. I will miss seeing him.
-
yes it is truly shocking. The rumors of "roid rage" just does not seem right, but until toxicologist reports come back, we don't know what has caused him to do what he did.
-
I was very shocked. I no longer follow wrestling but when I did many years ago I remember watching him wrestle. All I could ask myself when I saw the news is, "why would someone who has everything going for themselves do something like that?" And if he felt he was going through something that he couldn't solve any other way and he wanted to kill himself, fine, but why bring his family down with him? Very upsetting.

Very sad. One of my favorite wrestlers. According to wnbc.com (www.wnbc.com/entertainment/13568264/detail.html?taf=ny). Authorites believe that he killed his wife and son on Friday and hanged himself either Saturday night or Sunday morning. which means that he was in the house with his dead wife and son for almost 24 hours! Also, The WWE is disputing the notion that steroids played a role in the deaths even though investigators found steroids in the house. The WWE should not be making statements like that until tests results come back, which could take weeks or months.
-
They are calling it Roid rage, for steroid abuse. They believe he killed his wife on fri, son sat then killed himself the next day. Personally I can't think of any reason a person could look their child in their precious eyes then take their lives away from them. I don't know anything else about this story other then what the media's saying to assume homicide yet but I'm sure if there's anything leading to that it will come out. Not knowing anything else about it but the media saying he canceled his show because his son was spitting up blood, seems very shocking to think he was the reason why his baby was spitting up blood. But thats me
-
i dunno if we cld blame it on steroids...but maybe he has probs before that. I read that he was supposed to wrestle on the upcoming big WWE event and was pulled out bec of unspecified reasons. So maybe before the tragic event, he has been suffering some emotional imbalance that led to something bad. My thoughts and prayers to all of them.
-
Some people are angry at him but I just feel sad for them. He didn't seem like the type. No one really does. But I definitely didn't think he was the kind of guy who had major problems outside of WWE. Him out of everyone I wouldn't have ever imagined. I'm mostly shocked by it all.
-
I actually for some odd reason was watching the WWE on Sci-fi and magically the supposedly dead McMahon came on the air to announce his tragic death. I think there had to be some serious issues for a man that was successful in his career like him must not have had money issues. I'd like to see what the real causes are. I want to know what motivates someone like that to hang himself.
-
ok lets clarify some facts here 1 Benoit did not have steroids in his system testosterone is a hormone not a steroid! 2 the non wrestling media bring steroids into the question every single time a wrestler dies they did it to Owen Hart and Eddie Guererro it's been that way since McMahon was acquitted of steroid crimes on July 22nd 1994 ok now that the facts have been established i can answer the question properly. it was a huge shock and a double homicide suicide a tragic result of a tragedy that occurred almost 2 years ago. If Eddie hadn't died i don't think Benoit would have done this. i'm not blaming Eddie for dying. what i'm saying is that Eddie was Benoit's best friend. Owen Hart's death may or may not have had an effect on Benoit. we'll never know and if you're wondering I have been watching wrestling since 1990 and I will be 25 in 28 days time
-
I think it was a set up and the "roid rage" is just an easy excuse to not investigate futher. He didn't do any of it. He's been framed and hanged.... too sad
-
double murder suicide
-
Its shocking, its so sad to see this happen so someone like Benoit. People are saying it was his wife, it was him, etc. A close friend of his Chris Jericho said Benoit had been taking steriods but the kind for muscles, becuase he had been injured because of a match. Whatever the reason I hope its not true about him killing his son.
-
sadly both but this thing happens all the time even now
-
I've always been a fan of Chris but I don't think that anyone will ever know what really happened that fateful day or why. If his friends such as Bret Hart and Chris Jericho (they grew uo with him) don't know then we have no chance. As for homicide or suicide, it has to be both hasn't it?
-
Wow, it really was shocking. I really enjoyed watching Benoit. Tootless Agression! It was very sad. I believe homicide.
-
Chris was one of the greatest wrestlers ever. I will stop at that.
