Maybe not. Most highly trained may be the Pararescuers. Check this training regimen: http://www.af.mil/news/airman/0200/pjsb2.htm And this quote: One Army Special Forces sergeant major, who asked not to be identified, said, “PJs are the best trained special ops forces in the Defense Department — bar none — but you’ll never hear me admit that in public.” From this article:http://www.af.mil/news/airman/0200/pj.htm See my answer to the question about "most elite".

The Seals are a specialized breed of warriors that are probably the best trained for their type of warfare. In the Army, the Rangers are specialized, as are the Green Berets, and you could argue that the Delta teams are the most highly trained. Each has its role in the combat sceme of things. I was in the Air Force and the Air Commandos were the elite combat team. But, some of their responsibilities were close air support combat control, so they wouldn't be as highly trained in specific combat as the Seals, but I wouldn't want to see a Seal inserted for combat close air support. I agree with the prior answer that says that the Para rescue guys may be the most highly trained. In my branch of service, they were called PJ's or para jumpers and they went through grueling training that would probably cause problems for the Seals, the Delta teams and the Air Commandos. They earned the respect of everyone they saved and everyone who knows who they are. The argument is along the same lines as which is the better fighter, the F-14, the F-15, the F-16 or the F/A-18. In their respective roles, each is the most effective fighter. If taken out of their roles, they may not be the best. The F-14 is the best fleet defense aircraft going (even though it has almost been completely phased out). The F-15 has 101 wins in air combat and no losses - which should make it the best air superiority fighter around. But it can't fly off a carrier, so it doesn't cut it as a fleet defense aircraft.

Being Special Forces (Green Berets) for over 5 years, I have worked with all of our country's "elite" teams...They all have there areas of expertise and different ways of training. There are no two forces that train the same....that being said, the Delta force has the most vigorous and hard training and their reputation is well known, and not known....They are truely the most highly trained of the US Forces.

Define "highly trained". The Special Forces definitely are physically superior and are far from stupid, packing some mad skills. Navy Nuclear Propulsion guys barely know what a pushup is and only run twice a year for the PRT, but the education they get in their field is equivalent to 3-4 years of college just for the stuff that they can declassify enough to put on a college transcript... assuming the training doesn't drive them nuts (it happens fairly often) Just as it takes a person with great strength and stamina to become a SEAL or Green Beret, it takes a certain special level of intelligence, willpower, and sheer mental endurance to successfully become a nuke. So it depends.

Marine Force Recon ain't too shabby.

nah, I'm pretty sure that the Delta force is much more highly trained, cause pretty much, training for combat is their life. They're GOOD at what they do.

Navy nukes, Air force pararescue, and all branches category 4 linguists have the longest training time. Roughly 2 years, although I think PJ's have it at a little less. And thats just for enlisted jobs. If you're talking about total length of time spent training, I'd have to go with fighter pilots. Who even after training to meet all the prerequisites for the job, then procede to log something like 300 hours training per month. Special note for green berets... Isn't that position earned because of large amounts of experience? And really whats the difference between experience and training, when you come right down to it...

Easy Answer.." NO " !!! Why? Because it was the British S.A.S that trained allot of them! We have the best i'd say BUT i am probably just a patriot to my country.:) Where they might be the best in some specialised areas they can lack in other areas. No one can truly say they are "The best"! Horses for Courses come to mind ?

I'm a Force Recon Veteran who served just over 25 months in Vietnam. I was an E-6 and a team leader of a Spike Recon Team assigned to MAC-V SOG in DaNang and later Don Muang, Thailand. I had a cross-trained SEAL Medic on my team on my second tour. MAC-V SOG was mainly made-up of US Special Forces, but also included Force Recon, SEALs, Australian and New Zealand SAS, so I've worked with all of them in combat. As far as a comparison, I'd point out that each SOU has it's own specialty: 1. SEALs are the best in the water 2. USA Special Forces are top-notch instructors; in Vietnam they trained Montegards (primarily Nungs) 3. Force Recon are best at deep recon. 4. Rangers are trained primarily for company sized special operations. So it largely depends upon the mission. No doubt things have changed, but at the time, all Force Recon Marines were both SCUBA, Ranger and HALO qualified and had a secondary MOS (I was also qualified as a Scout-Sniper). In the deep jungle, Force Recon had no match in Vietnam. Semper Fi! Celer, Silens, Mortalis!

The best in the US but not the world. SAS and SBS are exceptional in the UK The israeli Spec ops are also good Germans and Dutch are non to shabby and then of course there are the Russians who have always been able to match there western counterparts

Yes and they are followed closely by Marine Force Recon. Army and Air force don't even compare. DEVGRU alone is comprised of the best of the best from all SEAL teams so id have to give it to them.

No, US Army "Delta Force" is believed to be the most elite fighting force in the United States Military. Not alot is known about them but they do exist. Delta Force is the highest calibur of fighting force although Navy Seals are very good and effective.
