  • One illusion is paying huge property taxes on a house paid for. So let me get this right. I bought this property for the beauty and to be on a lake but the government is going to charge me yearly a huge fee which they raise at will because they can't balance their check books. I think I am really renting at a different level.

  • One is Credit. The concept of buy NOW, but PAY later, gives the illusion of ownership by immediate possession. The big one is LAND. Although a person may hold a legal deed to land, the land can not truly be owned, it can not be carried away, and it survives much longer than the owner, being passed or sold through many, many generations. The natives believed that the land owned the people and that no one could ever possibly own the land ... it was this fact that led to the settlement of North America ... free land, not owned by anyone ...
