  • When you have those horrible headaches that last that long, try aspirin-free Excedrin. It usually takes me 6-8 of them spread out over about 4-6 hours. They never fail me. But, if you are incapacitated, and can't stand light, you should probably go to a doctor. It could be migraines.
  • Sleep & motrin. If it's a migraine there's a spot you can massage on either side of your neck below the jawbone that can make it at least partially go away (for me it gets rid of visual disturbances then I just have to deal with the raging headache).
  • I often have the same problem. If you are a female, it could be due to changes in hormones throughout your monthly cycle. A lot of times for me, I get headaches when I become busy and forget to keep myself hydrated by drinking plenty of water. Also after taking allergy medications such as diphenhydramine for either allergies or as a sleep-aid, I become dehydrated and get headaches, and must consciously drink lot of water. I also have Imitrex as an emergency backup in case a migraine becomes unbearable where I've become nauseated and incapacitated. Good luck!
  • Drink strong coffee, take some aspirin, and go see a doctor.
  • There are so many possible causes for a headache, it is hard to pick the best solution without knowing the cause. So, the first thing is to at least attempt to find the cause. If you can determine what has caused the pain, you can eliminate the cause and the pain will go away by itself. For excellent temporary relief, there are TENS devices that spark and stun nerves to briefly eliminate pain. There are accupressure points that can be pinched, poked, or massaged (with fingers or even strong magnets) to cause brief numbness. Some simple herbs such as ginger or almond will SLIGHTLY reduce mild pain. And then there are the mild nerve poisons known as pain killing drugs, everything from asprin to morphine. And you can always waste a lot of time to get a simple answer by asking a doctor.
