What?!
First off, I have NEVER heard of "drive shaft weight". Either there is a terminology oddity similar to Brits calling apartments "flats", or someone is feeding you bullshit.
Second, Golfs (and other FWD cars) do NOT have driveshafts. They DO have half-shafts that go from the transmission (more specifically, the differential) to the front wheels and some people who refuse to believe that automobiles advanced beyond 1960's technology may call them driveshafts.
never heard of a drive shaft wieght? if your shafts not wieghted properly you get crazy vibrations, the wieghts are just heavy rings that are mounted on the shaft in various locations. if its deteriorating they're probably referring to the seal on the inside that holds it in place, slide under your car and try to move the wieghts by hand, cause you shouldn't be able too
It means the round weights on the driveshafts. I've had one where the rubber that holds it in place rotted and it came loose! I cut it off cuz it was ratting around on the shaft. Just get a recon shaft if its getting loose.

You're reading I have been advised that my drive shaft weight is deteriorating, what does this mean, I have a mk2 golf, and what could be the cause.
