Why does the government promote holidays if they complain about global warming like cutting down Christmas trees and throwing them away, buying garbage and wrapping presents with paper? That is very wasteful too me.

Not sure why you got so many negative marks... Government...(at least the U.S. government) is not at all concerned with global climate change. They encourage rash spending in order to stimulate the economy. Capitalism is not concerned with waste, it is concerned with profit.

Did you realize that Christmas trees are actually farmed? It is not like people go into the forest and cut down trees and then don't replace them. These trees are specifically planted with the intention of harvesting them a few years later for the enjoyment of people at this season. This goes for the paper as well. The trees that are used to make paper are planted specifically for that purpose. What you seem to fail to grasp here is that trees are a crop, just like wheat, carrots, or potatoes. The place where they are cut down are also replanted with the specific intent of coming back later to harvest them. Because of this and our ability to fight forest fires, we actually have more forest in this country than there was when Europeans started colonizing this continent.
