My car, I cannot have anything left in my car, like garbage. Also my shoes have to be arranged according to color and style. Also at work everything is color coded.

i have OCD about germs, grammar, touching things and how much pressure i apply, and how i place things. I have to say a word like over and over until i get it right and i wash my hands 24/7. How much pressure i apply to things would be like if i touch something with my right hand i have to touch it with my left and if i touched it lighter with my left than my right i have to push on it until i feel the pressure on both sides is the same. And i have to place things prefectly i can't slide them a lot because I feel it's somehow deforming the object.

When I make my bed I have to be sure there are no wrinkles anywhere and my pillows have to be completly lined up with the design in the comforter. My clothes are lined up according to color as are my towels and sheets.

I tend not to have OCD about things... I'm a very laid-back person. However, I have two sisters in law who are OCD very badly. They won't use anything new, because they feel it will damage it in some way to be used. They collect hair from their brushes and used tissues, lest they lose some part of themselves. They tape every TV show they have interest in, even though they never watch them later. They rewrap all gifts, to be "saved for later" but later never comes. One of them used to take two steps back for ever three steps forward... literally. She felt that one of them had been done "wrong" and she had to make up for it, or something dreadful would happen. They won't step on sidewalk cracks. They take pictures incessantly with disposable cameras, but never get them developed. They collect up plates of food at every event they go to, and take it home... but never eat it, and are VERY distressed when the food is thrown out after it spoils, or bugs get into it. They have to say/do certain things at certain times or they just cannot do anything else until it has been done. And it keeps going...

I am OCD about the arrangement of my furniture and antiques. If one of my keys, or other miscellaneous small antiques, is out of place, I will become fidgety until I ascertain the problem. I usually am not aware of it. Other people tell me I do it. The odd thing is is I do not need to dust. They just have to be where I want them. It is calming to have them in their proper location. I also cannot stand clutter. I would be OCD about my spelling and grammar were it not for the blasted dyslexia. It is hard to be OCD about such things when one is dyslexic.

I'm OCD about planning. I always need to know what is going on ahead of time, I like to know what to expect... It drives my friends crazy!

im ocd about counting everything! everything i touch, read, and hear. i have to count how many words i say, how many letters are in the word, how many lines have to be made to make up a letter.(just thinking about it right now is giving me a headache) Also about grammar because whenever someone is messaging me i have to go back and edit what they've done, while counting of course. i count all of my steps and make sure that if i counted to an even number that i must go back and count to and odd number. i dont like even numbers. i prefer numbers like 7 or anything with a seven in it, but mostly it just has to be odd. im ocd about brushing my teeth, ive even brushed my teeth so hard that the back of my gums peeled and where bleeding. im ocd about the hairs on my head. i pull out the ones that dont feel right. Like if they're too thick or dont feel like they belong.[WOW I COULD GO ON FOREVER] lol haha i should just stop now. haha lmao ROTFL ^_^ i really wish there was someone i could talk to about this, just to let out everything i have to go through would be good haha lol cause im not even done eek! haha

I have to eat things an even number of times. No one oreo for me, i have to have 2,4,6,8 w/e ... it seems cool at first (more oreos!) but it's really annoying. Also, experiences that i have on one side of my body have to be felt on the other so there is a balance. I also think i have censory integration issues, cause i cannot stand the sound of nail filing, venetian blinds pulled up/down, etc.

I like complete sets. A broken plate or glass, missing fork or bent screwdriver causes real discomfort. When we bought dishes and silverware I got 4 extra settings of each to replace the ones in regular use. I TRY not to think about the incomplete set on the shelf after I break into the spairs

Many of us are "products of early toilet training." I think, though, that some things simply must be done. I don't know how much of it is unnecessary. For example, I MUST check all my doors and windows before I go to bed or leave the house... I have been known to turn the car around. I check the dial on my stove at least twice when I'm putting something on it or taking anything off... better that than the house burning down. It doesn't interfere with my life, so I don't think it's a disorder. I don't THINK.

Brushing my teeth and washing my hands are two things that come to mind.

I'm OCD about music. If I hear a song and I like it, I won't stop listening to it until I know every lyric of it. It drives my husband nuts. He can hear music and like it, but not care about hearing it again for years..

It's because we are creatures of habits. Having OCD for a certain thing just means that you have that overused habit. I'm OCD about getting things done. Once I start, I have to finish lest the unfinished drive me mad. I guess I'm pretty thorough. That's pretty much the only positive about my OCD. And of course, I hate interruptions.

I think most of you are missing the point about what OCD really is. None of you have any mention whatsoever of the first step in the OCD cycle, the main cause why you start doing what you do when you have OCD. And that my friends is the obsession, which does not mean being obsessed about lyrics of a song or anything like that. These are intrusive thoughts, images, ideas, etc. that can literally make you avoid public contact and drive you insane. Imagine that if you do not pick at a scab on your skin and let it bleed a certain # of times, your mother will die, and so will your whole family, and pretty horrible death too, one that you can actually see. Understand?

I'm glad to hear you're a firm believer in something you're likely completely uneducated about. I'm not OCD myself. But I do have "minor" schizophrenia. I hear voices. When I'm in my car. And the radio's on.
