Help answer this question below.
Do you mean to download DVD's over the Internet? Or to rip the DVD's from your DVD to your hard drive?
Either way, you will need a large amount of free memory on your hard drive (commercial DVD's can have as much as 8.5GB of data on them). If you are downloading a DVD over the Internet, they will almost always be 4.4GB or less in size. Realize though, that downloading movies over the Internet is illegal, and the movie corporations are suing people every day! Most people use bittorrent to download movies. With video sharing websites, it is possible to find entire movies and stream them to your computer (they are usually in flash format). It is possible to save these with some advanced software, but it is not practical...and the quality is poor compared to downloading an actual DVD rip.
If you just want to rip the DVD (like making a backup) to your hard drive, then I recommend a program called DVD Decrypter. They don't update this program anymore, but you can still find it with a google search, like "dvd decrypter download." There is another piece of software called ripit4me.exe, which works along with DVD Decrypter to overcome some of the newer copyright protections. Technically, ripping a DVD is probably illegal...but they can't track that over the Internet.
And hopefully this is obvious, but NEVER upload any movies (or music) to the Internet, as this is trackable by big brother...and it is a much more serious crime than simply downloading them. That is my understanding anyway.
Oh, and you will need a DVD drive in your computer. haha

You're welcome. Just be safe in what you do...I wouldn't want you to get sued.

Yeah, not from experience of course. Most of that is illegal or borderline illegal...and I would never break the law. :)
