  • Is it possible that he naps to long in the afternoon? You could set up a reward system. Such as if he stay in bed then the next morning he gets to do something special like go to the park, what ever he likes that is reasonable. Make sure he has a consistent bedtime routine. Put him to bed around the same time every night. About an hour or two before bedtime switch to quiet activities only. Lessen the amount of light. This may sound strange but avoid caffeine intake 6 hours before bed. Some people don't realize how much caffeine is in soda and chocolate and some kids are more sensitive than others. If sugar makes him hyper then avoid that too. That said when you go into his room simply take him by the hand and put him back in bed. NO TALKING. Unless of course he is truly upset/afraid of something. Be consistent he probably will test you for a few nights. However if he doesn't get any attention positive or negative he will eventually get bored. Make sure he can't get into any of his toys for this reason.
