  • Yes, You are advised to avoid them if you're on a diet or regime, as their caloric value is very high. They are delicious, though. UPDATE: After further reading I found out that the caloric content doesn't necesarily mean they're that harmful. They provide many benefits as well. Moderation is the key as it is almost always the case.   • Everything can cause weight gain if you eat enough of it. They are good for you but eating some avocado when you don't normally won't make much if any difference. Eating 5 in a day, and then eating 2000 calories for the day on top, that will probably add some pounds. Eating ONE avocado or some guac- not a chance.
