I am not sure that it will grow form a cutting because it never worked for me. I do know that they love it inside and shady. I rarely water mine, maybe once a week and he seems very happy.

Tip cuttings from a rubber plant can be rooted directly in soil. A tip cutting has no more than 4 or 5 leaves and a bare stem with only one node exposed (a node is the bump on the stem where leaves were attached). The stem and node is then inserted into a small (6") pot filled with a damp mixture of 2 parts peat moss and one part perlite. Enclose the pot and cutting inside a sealed, clear plastic bag. Keep it in bright light, but out of direct sunlight. After a month you can gradually open the plastic bag over the course of a week & remove the pot. The plant cutting should have roots.
