  • Normally people do because it is notseen as the 'lady like' thing to do. The fact that women have the right to have as many sexual partners as they like just like men do seems to be irrelevent.
  • It depends what kind of circles you move in as to what is considered "sleeping around" and whether its looked down upon. I am 25 years old, British, from a non-religious background and probably a million more little details that influence my views on the matter. Although most of my similiarly aged friends (male and female, straight, gay, bi, whatever.) have had one night stands, change partners regularly, and have a generally relaxed (though sensible) attitude towards sex (ie. sex doesn't have to mean love or commitment, its more about fun), I don't think any of us considers that the others are really guilty of "sleeping around" or looks down on them because of it. The only time we would be likely to do that, would be if someone was in a relationship and sleeping with other people (secretly) at the same time. I think you'll find that in partoicular is a complete no-no in most circles, and people WILL look down on you no matter what- because regardless of sexual morals, it shows a selfish and callous character trait. However, if I were to walk into my nearest church and announce the number of past sexual partners my friends or I have had (without getting too personal- its not 100s or anything!) think its a fair assumption that a good deal of the congregation would be thinking and saying some extremely uncomplimentary things about me. (And maybe looking around for the Four Horsemen). I also think the same would happen if I were to carry out this slightly bizarre exercise in a room of 70 year old ladies of indeterminate religion, who would clearly have been brought up under entirely different social constraints and norms. There are also girls who have been brought up to believe in "saving themselves" or waiting for true love before giving anything away, people who are particularly paranoid about STDs or pregnancy, those who associate sex inseperably with love, and so on. A lot of whether someone will look down on a "loose" woman depends on how they feel about sex itself. I think we all tend to judge sleeping with "too many" people as being a few more than we have ourselves! Its also interesting to note that I have been amongst groups of women where a large number of sexual conquests is seen as something of a badge of honour (Maybe a bit bravado, a bit proven sexuality and just a bit plain "Why the hell shouldn't I?"), and a woman who was more discerning about picking sexual partners, or clung onto virginity would be looked down upon for being old fashioned or "frigid". Plenty of groups of teenage girls have this attitude going on, but its certainly not confined to them. So I guess my answer in summary is: Well it depends. And it depends what you class as "sleeping around"
  • Unfortunately, yes. While some have religious or moral objections, others have more personal reasons. There are women and men who object to others' promiscuity, while being just as promiscuous. We've met them. Women calling each other names. Men calling women names. Women calling men names. Sometimes, even men will stop patting each other on the back long enough to shake their head at one of their own. This is just jealousy and competition. But others still will voice objections about another's lifestyle, whether religion or morality is the culprit. And it is unfortunate that we live in a world where people try to impose their beliefs and standards on others. Don't let them. Decide for yourself what standards you will follow, and let the others be miserable.
  • Only by those being left out.
  • Yes, of course. They have no respect for themselves so why should we respect them?
  • People look down on them, but I personally do not. If they were sleeping around, maybe they just did it for fun at the time. And being single, I can understand how much of a tough time they must be dealing with. But of course I am assuming here that they did not "cheat" on their significant others. As long as she is honest with me and does not cheat on me, I will give her as much respect as anyone else.
  • Look down on...not necessarily. It might depend on their attitude. Movie stars, yes, the women I have ministered to in prison, no. Their lives started off badly, their self-views are so low, and their knowledge of what real love is so skewed, they have allowed themselves to be used and abused by man after man. Those women, I cry for.
  • Only if they're shorter than me... Seriously though, depends a bit. Some women do tend to sleep around out of a chronic insecurity and need. That is tough to respect, but I still wouldn't look down on 'em. Some girls sleep around a lot because they enjoy sleeping around! No reason to look down on them at all. "There but for an ugly face and awkward social skills go I"....
  • Those that can't get any laid do
  • Jealous woman do.
  • Abso"freakin"lutly...Have some respect for yourself and try to at least make an attempt to "keep it in your pants"...
  • For some reason yes, if a guy does it its 'acceptable' or to his friends its 'fucking awesome' if a girl does it its 'disgusting' or shes 'a slut' I say if she wants to go out and sleep around its her body let her do as she pleases (the same as some guys do) and not be ridiculed for it by closed minded people. I wouldn't sleep around if by that you mean have loads of one night stands, it wouldn't be my choice, it wouldn't fulfil me. But if a friend or relative or anyone wanted to do it, I would warn them about std's, advise them to use condoms and leave it at that. Oh and can you say what you mean by 'sleeping around' because I think in this day and age most women will have had a few more than one sexual partner in her lifetime. I have and I aint ashamed of that. Who am I to say whats right or wrong sexually for another person? I can only decide whats right for me.
  • If we are in the missionary position I do!
  • yes until she sleeps with me then i look down on myself
  • Why, everybody has needs. As long as they aren't screwing around on their partner. And practicing safe sex, I don't see anything wrong with it.
  • actually they (the women that sleep around) look down on me for NOT sleeping around, like they're jealous.
  • I think in the past yes, but not since Clinton de-regulated sex.
  • yes because usually they are on their backs so you have to look down to see them
  • what that floozey?
