The Mormon Church has a web site that obscenely worships the efforts of Joseph Smith. Any discerning individual can see there’s more than meets the eye here. The Mormon Church denies that they worship Joseph when in fact anyone can see they have a FULL web site dedicated to him that lauds his praise over and over again. It's noticeable that there isn’t even ONE picture of Jesus on their main homepage. This coming from the "Church of Jesus Christ" When it comes to Joseph, there are plenty of lovely thoughts and adorations for him in addition to the prophets of today and of yesteryear. Perhaps some day they'll devote a web site dedicated to their "Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ". After all, anything is possible. Edit- The Joseph Smith site is an official LDS web site! The Joseph Smith Commemorative Broadcast Dec 23 2005, and the film title Joseph Smith The Prophet of the Restoration are to be viewed Saturday, December 17, 2005. All of this is about Joseph Smith and not about Christ yet still they claim to call themselves Christian. Edit - Joseph Smith http://www.josephsmith.net/portal/site For your free "BUSINESS meeting" consultation and tour, call Joseph Smith Memorial Building or email: The Joseph Smith Memorial Building. With Mormons everything is about Joseph Smith and don't forget he was a teenager who was deep into magic and sorcery. Edit - Jabba The Hut – The Vatican site address you posted in comment is NOT an official Catholic web site because Catholics don’t have one. You posted a Vatican web site. It’s not about which is more Christian; it is about the fact that one isn’t Christian at all. LDS by definition is not Christian and one look at their history reveals this. LDS is about Joseph Smith so log onto the web site again and read for yourself.

As a member of the LDS church, I can state that I, and those members with whom I worship and associate, have never, ever worshipped Joseph Smith. I appreciate him, thank him for the history-altering choices he made and praise his courage and obedience in spite of opposition. But I no more worship him than I worship Moses, Abraham or Gordon B. Hinckley. Each of these prophets has played an important role in facilitating our understanding of Heavenly Father and His plan for us, but they are not worshipped by us for it - just greatly appreciated.

This is a question that's seemingly easily answered. No, Mormons (members of the LDS Church) don't pray to Joseph Smith, Mormon, or Moroni. However, if you look to LDS hymns such as "Praise to the Man" or "The Seer, Joseph the Seer," you'll see that the LDS church doesn't hold Joseph in the same regard as Christian churches hold their prophets. A simple google.com search for hymn/Abraham/Moses/Paul will show fairly definitively that there exists no hymns, LDS or Christian, that lauds the prophets like the Mormons praise Joseph Smith. Yes, if you maintain that Joseph was a true prophet, it makes absolute sense to praise God for using Joseph as a tool to "restore the church to the earth." But to praise the MAN for anything is something for which even the early churches were rebuked. When John bowed down to the angel in the book of Revelation, the response was for him to be careful not to do so and for him to stand. I would say they might be toeing the line when it comes to worshipping a man.

Although they may tell you they do not worship these ,the truth is they do. What happens when you put a mans teachings above the Bibles teachings(Gods teachings) is we have now made that our god. Mormons hold up the book of Mormons more than they do the bible. They have been decieved by the devil himself and now are convinced that it is God Almighty they serve. Mormonism is NOT Christian nor do they worship the God of the bible, instead of saying what Jesus'diciple said we should say"He must increase and I must decrease" the Mormons say the exact opposite! "I will be like the most high God" the devil said that from the very beginning! Bob- if you can tell me that the mormons do something completly different then what i say they do then prove it? tell me and everyone else what you believe because evertime i say they do this or believe that, you say no they dont. So what about you prove me wrong! All the info i've ever said about moronism is directly from their own websites and book of mormons and directly from the mormons and ex mormons themselves! **** it is in the "christian" section because the momons say they are "christian" so everybody believes them!. I'm sure satanic worshippers are nice to some extent. Bob- I guess you can say that Christ was hate filled too then ! He told the truth and did not cover sin. He came to save and reveal mans sin not hide it! it is not hate to want momons to be free. If you think I hate you then you are wrong I hate the lies that steal lives and send people to hell not you. God hates the sin and loves the sinner. -- thanks John that is the whole piont. how can a person who is sick find a cure without first being diagnosed.

No, we Mormons do not worship anyone other than God the Father in the name of Jesus Christ. The last three posts are the result of confused people who are either misguided by blind anti-mormons, or misinterpreting things themselves. Even if we did worship Joseph Smith, why would we deny it?

The problem with this question is semantics. The appropriate response is highly dependent upon your chosen application of the definition of worship. In my mind, worship is something reserved only for God. It involves feelings of reverence and great respect, no small amount of fear, a certain degree of awe, and causes Him to be the recipient (and answerer) of my prayers. My worship of Him is evidenced in many ways, not the least of which is my adherence to His commandments to the greatest degree of my ability, and my sincere sorrow when I fail to do so, followed quickly by my repentance. Thus, put simply, I do not worship Joseph Smith, Mormon, or Moroni, nor does any other member of the LDS Church of whom I am aware. Yes, we do sing a song called "Praise to the Man." It is a song that recounts the history of our church, and reminds us why we admire him so much. To us, he was, while very much imperfect and human, a very admirable, and thus praise-worthy individual. (I've also been known to praise some of my students, and even one of my college professors, but I'm pretty sure that doesn't qualify them for deity.) And furthermore, singing a song about someone does not denote worship either. We sing the national anthem. Does that mean we worship the flag? Or the United States? No. But we can admire and praise them both. Having said all of this, and banged my head on the desk along with my fellow members, to the responses of several unfortunately misinformed individuals, I would like to personally invite you all to stop accepting the rumors and innuendo that you read, hear and see on t.v. and march yourself to the nearest LDS church. Attend our Sunday worship services for yourself and find out without question whom we worship. I personally guarantee you won't find anyone praying to Joseph Smith, Mormon or Moroni, or anyone, for that matter, other than our most kind and gracious Heavenly Father. On a final note, we are the Church of Jesus Christ - by definition Christian. In fact, if you could follow it, I'd argue we're about as Christian as it gets. If your version of Christian doesn't include Jesus' church, well... I don't want to know what's at the core of YOUR version of Christianity. My suggestion for those of you who seek to condemn what you clearly do not understand: There's a scripture in the New Testament (pretty common stuff in most Christian churches - same one we've got in the Mormon church) - Matthew 7:3. Contemplate it for a while and consider your own vision before further comment.

What a riot! I just came across this "conversation" while surfing for info on the hymn "The Seer, Joseph, the Seer". Joseph was deep into magic and sorcery? Where did you get that piece of information? You mean, he was visited by the Angel Moroni? Or do you mean he was attacked by forces of darkness when he called on God for understanding? The Joseph Smith website is about him, to explain his role in the restoration of the gospel--which, btw, was foretold by Paul (grievous wolves will attack the flock...etc.). BTW, "Praise to the Man", as stated above, is proper for titles. The first line of the hymn reads, "Praise to the man who communed with Jehovah!" Not capitalized in sentence structure. In fact, that's a great hymn to read to see that we praise the blessings that came because of his willingness to obey God, when all around him men were plotting against him, just as they did Elijah, John the Baptist, etc. We praise his accomplishments and we thank God for them. That's not worship of Joseph, it's rejoicing that he succeeded in the tasks God gave him. No, we don't put man's teachings above God's teachings. We put the revelations of God above all, and if you think that Joseph's utterances are his alone, then how do you know that Isaih's were from God? Or Jeremiah's? Or Peter's? He was a PROPHET! And the Book of Mormon is scripture, just as the Bible is scripture. Brother Joseph was blessed instrumental in taking the stick of Judah and the stick of Joseph and putting them together in our hands, just as the scriptures prophesied. And revelation continues today. "Surely God will do nothing except he reveal it first through his servants the prophets." (Amos) So you claim that the heavens are closed, that revelation is no more? Then you ignore God's word. How can those who worship Christ not be Christians, pray tell? Because we don't do it in the way you say we should? But we should fear God more than man, so we do it in the way He instructs us. Joseph was one of the greatest prophets, blessed to usher in the Dispensation of the Fullness of Times. So we rejoice and we thank our Lord for his blessings, and we worship God and not Joseph or any other prophet.

I was raised LDS and all those years I have been taught about Joesph Smith, our testamonies of the church were about Joesph Smith, I did not even know Jesus. The church always taught us to read the Book of Morman. My Mother had a big white Bible setting on a table that was never read, back when I was growing up in the church. the only time the Bible was used was to bring people to the church and then it wasn't very much, only to answer someones questions. Actually the Bible is used more now in church than it was years ago. Any way to answer your question in my belief the answer is yes Joesph Smith, not intentionaly though, but up until I was 28 years old I and everyone we knew in the church basically did worship Joesph Smith, but as I said not intentionally, we didn't even know we were. ( But the answer now is no we do not worship Joesph Smith). At 28 years of age my aunt and uncle got me into reading the bible telling me to pray for understanding before reading, so I did every time and knew the bible was true, The LDS church is made up of some very good people and do believe in Jesus, they are more open now with teaching about Jesus and him being our only way to The Heavenly Father, and not all but some of us believe that it is Faith and works, not just one or the other, Because Faith without works is dead and works without faith is dead. James 2:14-26

You may give me all the minus points you want, But the Heavenly Father knows I'm not lieing, it happened just as I said it did growing up in the LDS Church ( The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, I know what church I went to, and I know how it was, and everything was Joesph Smith this and that. And as I said they do teach the Bible more now, and if you were in the Church even 20 years ago you would agree, the church mostly said read the Book of Morman, hardly ever the Bible, the Bible they said was not all translated correctly. But then later they said everyone should start reading the Bible more, but only the one that had some scriptures redone, that it put out by the LDS church, and please don't denie this because if you know as much as you act like you do about the church, you can't say I'm lieing, without being a lier your self, And the Heavenly Father knows you called me a lier when I wasn't. I stayed in the Church up until about 2 years ago, and the reason I left was because I had gotton to really read the Bible and started seeing things the LDS beliefs is not the same as the Bible Beliefs, I am 52 years old now, and I should have left the church long ago, but it was hard to after being raised in it. One reason I quit believing in the LDS beliefs was because The Bible says no one has ever seen God except Jesus, John 1:18 and Joesph Smith says he seen The Heavenly Father and Jesus, Also Exodus 33:20 Says No man has seen me and lived, There are other things that don't go with the bible as well but I wont go into all of them. I protected the church beliefs for years even though I knew it wasn't true. But couldn't help my self, it was like a family to me, now I have finally gotton away from it.

No!!

None of them. Only God.

Which God do Mormons worship? They believe that men can become Gods of their own worlds and the following is taught to Mormons: "As man is, God once was. As God is, man may become."
-
no. they don't worship mary either.

The LDS church is not a sect of Christianity. Christians worship the Lord, which in deity is represented through God the Father, Jesus Christ the Son and the Holy Spirit. Jesus Christ is, in no way, equivalent to Joseph Smith and Joseph Smith is not recognized by the Christian community as a prophet. Concerned Chrsitians is a wonderful organization that reveals the many differences between Christian and LDS doctrine. The founder of the organization was a part of the LDS church and held high positions of authority within it. If you would like to know more, I recommend looking into the organization.

I don't know the answer to that, but I do know the answer that I just saw on here is crap. Mormons are NOT christians. Christians do not believe God was a man and that you can become a God.
-
Umm.. No they don't. I have been a christian my entire life.. We don't believe that sorry.
-
None of the above. They worship Baphomet. My 2 cents.
-
None of the above. LDS worship God the Father in the name of His son, Jesus Christ.
-
We worship God the Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, as Jesus himself commanded us to do. We respect these servants of God and thank them and God for what they have done to help us on our way to Him.
-
Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith, Mormon, Moroni? Well you tell me? We do not pray to any of them. We do not baptize in any of their names. We do not bless the Sacrament in any of their names. But we do all those things to the Father in the name of Jesus Christ. Does that give you a clue? whew6
-
We RESPECT all of them as prophets of the Living God. - We WORSHIP only God, The Eternal Father, in the name of his Son, Jesus Christ.
