Help answer this question below.

My '98 Sony Trinitron shut off by itself and will not turn back on and the indicator light keeps blinking. The remote works and I have checked the power fuse. What's wrong?

    What kind of TV?

    If it will not turn back on at all and an LED is blinking, the DC converter section is intact and is detecting a critical failure in the projection circuit or is receiving an infrared remote control code that is resetting it. This may be excessive secondary voltage (flyback), a blown fuse or breaker, or simply an inability to operate in scan range, which might be an arced-over yoke, a ground fault, an open circuit in the emitter, etc..)

    Check simple things first - replace batteries in the remote, make sure none of the buttons on the TV or remote are stuck, try a different outlet, disconnect the antenna, whack it lightly in the top with your fist..
