Lots of weird beeping sounds are coming from inside my computer. A friend thinks it might be the CPU. I can't give any more detail than that. What might it be?

Unless you removed the heat sink and are frying an egg on the cpu, it won't be that. There's nothing to make noise in them. What does make noise are fans and drives.
If your fans have an dust bunny accumulation on them, it can cause noise as the fan blades are unbalanced. It could also be a cable touching a fan or even a fan about to kick the bucket. You'll find fans on your power supply, cpu heat sink, case fans and in some instances your video card.
It could also be a loose mounting screw for a drive or loose panel screw holding the side of the case.
It may also be the sign of a hard drive failing. They can make some unholy sounds when they are about to expire.
